If you can read this, you've probably spent some time as a student, and given that you're here, some time spent researching colleges. You're an amateur-expert in education, even if it is an oxymoron. What more is there to learn about, well, learning? Plenty, it turns out, and these top 10 education blogs are ready to prove it. Some offer news or useful tips, others witty commentary, but all provide for a well-rounded perspective of education today, from kindergarten through grad school.

1. Class Struggle
As the feature writer for this Washington Post blog, Jay Mathews tackles some of the most pressing (and interesting) issues in education today, both at the K-12 and collegiate levels. Quick and witty, Mathews keeps you on your metaphorical toes. (Really!)
2. Study Skills Blog
Did you know chewing gum may improve your memory? Neither did we, at least until we read it on this snazzy blog offering valuable study tips and insights. Topics include tips for online classes, getting in the study-zone and even using music while studying.
3. The Education Optimists
According to its banner, this blog -- written by a professor of education and a director of education policy -- explores "the power of society, schools, colleges and educators" to "empower individuals, further learning and reduce inequities." In other words, save the world one college student at a time.
4. Higher Ed Watch
Maintained by the New America's Higher Education Initiative, this blog keeps you in the know when it comes to issues in higher education, including financial aid and admissions trends.
5. Bridging Differences
Education Week's Bridging Differences provides insight on the U.S. education system in a way that appeals to insiders (teachers and administrators) and outsiders (you, probably) alike. Bloggers Diane Ravitch and Deborah Meier know their stuff.
6. Teacher in a Strange Land
Nancy Flanagan is a gifted writer who spent some 30 years teaching K-12 students in Michigan. Her work is insightful, and with titles like "The Mix Tape Metaphor" and "Eight and a Half Things I Know to Be True," pretty darn readable.
7. Career Corner
Maintained by members of the American Association for Employment in Education, Career Corner is a blog written for future teachers, but offers nuggets of wisdom that can be applicable to all industries, such as interviewing and job hunting tips.

Smart and funny, this blog -- written by a Texas middle school teacher -- tells it like it is (and how it should be).
9. This Week in Education
This Scholastic-based education blog penned by Alexander Russo lives up to its name, providing news and insight on some of the most pressing (or at least interesting) issues in education today.
10. Hacking [Higher] Education
Thanks to the boom in online colleges and innumerable, but neat-o education apps for your smartphone, education and technology are more intertwined than ever before. This Inside Higher Ed blog looks at issues relating to both.
