The general role of a manager is to plan, coordinate and oversee operations for any type of organization -- a business, government agency or nonprofit group. This professional may be responsible for developing policies, managing daily operations, deploying human and financial assets to achieve goals and measuring results. Managers are critical to organizations, as they ensure short- and long-term objectives and end results, such as revenue targets, are met.

Online colleges in management may help provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve as a management professional. Many of these positions require prior work experience according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, but those with less experience may be able to seek entry-level business positions and work their way up to assistant manager or a related role.

What does an Associate Online Degree in Management from Entail?

While online associate degree programs vary, they typically require completion of about 60 credits, which takes about two years for full-time students. Those can include units for general education courses in areas like English, communications, economics and math. Business and management courses are also required, such as organizational behavior, marketing, accounting, human resources management and entrepreneurship.

As an extra bonus, many online degree programs offer students the opportunity to learn at their own pace, on their own time and from wherever they have an Internet connection. Via technology, students can engage with their professors and fellow classmates and access and interact with study resources. The technology they use for their distance learning may serve them well once in the workplace where similar technologies can be employed.
